Make Stretching Before Bed a Habit

Stretching whether it’s morning, midday, or nighttime, is very beneficial for your body. Stretching helps with mobility of joints and keeps muscles flexible. If you’ve struggled to make stretching a consistent habit, create a routine such as at night that might help you stay on track. Stretching anytime of the day is beneficial, but night time stretching can also help with sleep and destressing of the day. “Stretching before bed provides a great opportunity to relieve tension in muscles that feel tight over the course of the day,” says Dr. Leada Malek, PT, DPT, C.S.C.S., SCS. “When combined with breathing techniques, it can even reduce stress,” explains Malek. “Getting the nervous system to calm down before bed can help you fall asleep and stay asleep better!” The following link contains some great stretches that you can do before bed that will help with your overall health.
