Health Benefits of Blueberries

Berry season is upon us and some of the best Shakeology drinks are made with berries. The superfood blueberry is my next June produce item. Blueberries are grown on a flowering shrub closely related to cranberries and huckleberries. They start out as a green color but as they ripen turn bluish purple. There are two different types of blueberries… highbush blueberries (most common in the U.S.) and lowbush or wild blueberries both low in calories but high in fiber, vitamin C and vitamin K.
