The Wall Street Journal says, “Average Americans eat salads at mealtime only about 36 times per year.” WHAT?!?!?!? I probably do at least 360 meals a year, if not more. How about you?
Some people say eating salad is hard, it’s bland, it’s not filling! Well, I am going to give you a few of MY FAVORITE salad mixers and how I make them to FILL me UP!
First Tip: ALWAYS put an unlimited amount of veggies!
Second Tip: Add SOME TYPE of protein (Boneless Chicken, Tuna, Salmon, LEAN gound round/ turkey, steak) or healthy fat (almonds, walnuts, pecans, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds)!!!- It will help you get full!!!
Third Tip: MIX UP YOUR OPTIONS: fruits, beans, corn, cheese, hard-boiled eggs, dried fruit
*** NO SALAD IS EVER THE SAME! I USUALLY USE WHATEVER I HAVE IN THE FRIDGE!!!!!***
Chicken Salad:
1- (4oz) Boneless Chicken Breast/ Tenderloin
1-2 Handfuls on Spring Mix Greens or Spinach
1 Whole Tomato (medium)
1/4 chopped red onion
1/4-1/2 cup (1 handful) Cucumber
1/4 chopped pepper (i use red, orange, or yellow)
Drizzle 2-4 tbsp of Kraft Light Asiago Parmesan Vinegarette
Harvest-Blend Salad:
1-2 Handfuls on Spring Mix Greens-1 Whole Tomato (medium)-1/4 chopped red onion- Cucumber- 1/4 chopped red pepper- Banana Peppers- Carrots- 3 tbsp of Back to Natures, Harvest Blend- oil and balsamic vinegar drizzled over it!
Salad with Beans:
1-2 Handfuls on Spring Mix Greens or Spinach
1 Whole Tomato (medium)
1/4 chopped red onion
Cucumber
1/4 chopped red pepper
1/4 cup of black beans
1/4 cup of corn
1/2 of a fresh lemon squeezed on top as dressing!
*** My Dressings change due to the salad; BUT I stick with Kraft Light Balsamic(s), Oil and Vinegar, and Fresh Squeezed Lemon- OR NO DRESSING!
