Health Benefits of Fiddlehead Ferns

The next produce item of April is something you may not have heard of before or didn’t think it was edible. You may use ferns as decoration in your house, but did you know that you can eat fiddlehead ferns? Fiddlehead ferns thrive in temperate climate and well drained soils most commonly harvested in Canada, but are also available in Australia, New Zealand, and America. Fiddlehead ferns, also called Ostrich fern and Shuttlecock fern, have many health benefits including improving blood pressure and fighting off infections. It’s a low calorie vegetable with lots of protein and little fat and carbohydrates. There are many ways to enjoy these types of ferns in cuisine, and I will share a recipe with you later.
