But what about alcohol like wine? Yes, wine has sugar in it and in fact some dessert wines can have up to 8 grams per serving!! “The alcohol in wine is a byproduct of fermenting naturally occurring sugars found in wine grapes. Some of these sugars remain unfermented, and they’re called residual sugar, says Sofia Norton, RD, a dietitian based in Los Angeles.” This doesn’t mean you have to give up that glass of wine every now and then, just be mindful of the wines that have less residual sugar.
